Lace Bobbin Blanks supplied in packs of 10. Size 3/8" x 3/8" x 5" (10mm x 10mm x 127mm) Botanical Name: Dalbergia Melanoxylon. Country of origin - Tanzania SG 1.20. A small tree reaching 15m in height and 0.4m in diameter. Many defects causing low yield and difficult cutting. Heartwood very dark brown with black lines. Sapwood is pale yellow giving an attractive contrast. The grain may be straight or irregular, with a very fine texture. Dries slowly with a tendency to check. Difficult to saw and plane being very dense. Used extensively for woodwind instruments, giving excellent tone. Turns well and takes an excellent finish.
